The Regional Aviation Association of Australia (RAAA) is aware that the cost associated to entering the aviation industry can be a burden to student pilots. To enphasise the importance of new pilots entering the regional aviation industry we have arranged partnerships with member organisations to award scholarships to individuals meeting the criteria to assist them completing their studies.

  


Overview

    2009 saw the RAAA introduce for the first time Pilot Scholarships that was further extended in 2010.The scholarships are designed to assist the education of promising young pilots. The scholarships available through the RAAA are:

    • RAAA Ansett Aviation Traiing Pilot Scholarship, and

    • RAAA Jeppesen Pilot Scholarship.



RAAA Ansett Aviation Training Pilot Scholarship

Funded by Ansett Aviation Training it is intended that two (2) scholarships will be awarded as encouragement to the continuing education of promising pilots. The scholarship winners will together undergo a complete endorsement in Melbourne Australia on either the Beechcraft Super Kingair B200 or Fairchild Metroliner III/23 aircraft types. The total cost of endorsement courses will be covered by Ansett Aviation Training. Either course will take twelve (12) working days and at the completion the scholarship winners will be endorsed as long as they pass the check ride, which includes three (3) take off and landings in an aircraft at the completion of the course.

RAAA Jeppesen Pilot Scholarship

One (1) scholarship awarded annually. Funded by Jeppesen Australia through the Jeppesen Aviation Foundation with a value of $5,000, it is intended as an encouragement to the continuing education of a promising pilot. Funds will be made available in mid year and may be used to assist with meeting the cost of studies, books and materials, or for accommodation and travel expenses directly related to advancing their aviation career.

Selection Criteria

    • All applications will be judged by a panel comprising senior members of the RAAA and the scholarship sponsors. The decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

    If you are interested in applying for a scholarship please download and complete the appropriate application from the links above and forward it with all supporting documents to the RAAA. Applications must be received by the RAAA by the closing date.
