MacAir Airlines
MacAir Airlines is truly a success story of pioneering spirit in outback Queensland. The company commenced its operations in 1992 as a charter operation on McKinlay Station in North West Queensland. Since its inception, MacAir Airlines has grown to become a major player in Australia's regional aviation network and plays an important role in providing transport to both passengers and freight throughout regional Queensland.
MacAir is now Queensland’s largest privately own regional airline, employing over 200 professionals directly, and many more indirectly earning their living from MacAir Airlines. MacAir is committed to, where possible, employing and training local residents and in addition to this has a strong “buy” local focus to ensure as much revenue is reinvested back into the local communities.
MacAir currently services almost 30 destinations in its network, with the link between Townsville and Mt Isa being the busiest. This route is vital to the mining support infrastructure that has built up on this lucrative corridor and sees the company's newest addition, the ATR 42-500 servicing this two hour sector.
