Rockhampton Airport

The Rockhampton Airport is owned and operated by the Rockhampton Regional Council.

In 2007 the Rockhampton Airport was named Australian Major Airport of the Year. This was also the busiest year in the airport's history, with 660,000 domestic and 7,000 international passengers. It is expected that 700,000 domestic and 6,000 international passengers will passed through the terminal in 2008.

Rockhampton Airport is serviced by QantasLink, Virgin Blue, Jetstar and Tiger Airways, with direct services to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

In 2000 the runway was extended to 2,680m to accommodate international wide-bodied operations, predominately for military customers. The airport now has a unique mix of narrow and wide body aircraft including the B747, B777, A330 and AN-124.
